The government of Oaxaca informed that five people were detained. Recently, residents accused the municipal president of alleged acts of corruption and failures in her municipal administration. Through a press release, the Congress of Oaxaca condemned the events in which Deputy Concepción Rueda Gómez was also attacked. They also disapproved of the violent acts committed against the staff of the state Congress, stating that nothing justifies the use of violence, as it is not the way to resolve differences, especially when the local Congress has worked to reach a peaceful, legal, and fair solution in this case. In this regard, the president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo), Deputy Tania Caballero Navarro, explained that this decision aims to remedy any possible violation of due process. She reiterated that the objective of this Legislature is to resolve conflicts through dialogue and legality, prioritizing social peace in the communities. Finally, the government of Oaxaca informed that it will not allow the rule of law to be violated and will give legal follow-up to this situation of violence that occurred within the local congress. Tension was experienced in the Congress of Oaxaca when residents of San Agustín Amatengo entered the premises and forcibly took the municipal president, Italivy Sarahí Juárez Ramírez, after learning that the deputies had not approved her recall from office. The legislators determined to return the ruling to the Permanent Commission on Government and Agrarian Affairs, which angered more than 80 people, who, after abducting the mayor, put her in an ambulance. Hours later, state police rescued the municipal president while she was traveling on the Zaachila-Zimatlán highway.
